BLU R1 Plus is an unlocked Android cell phone with a 4000mAh battery
After releasing the R1 HD late in 2016, BLU now released a successor for that model.
The BLU R1 Plus is an updated version of the R1 HD, with a couple of improved specifications. As an illustration, the R1 Plus incorporates a 13 mega-pixel primary camera with LED flash, while the R1 HD posseses an 8 mega-pixel camera. The R1 Plus as well highlights an upgraded MediaTek 6737 chip, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage, all of which are upgrades on top of the R1 HD.
Other highlights of the BLU R1 Plus include a larger 5.5-inch 1280 pixels by 720 pixels display, a 5 mega-pixel camera with wide angle lens, a much beefier 4000mAh battery, FM radio, as well as Android 6.0 Marshmallow. BLU does claim that upgrading to Android 7.0 is arranged.
Also of note is that the BLU R1 Plus has T-Mobile VoLTE support out of the box, which is a feature that was put into the R1 HD post-launch. Still, the BLU R1 Plus fails to support T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling.
The BLU R1 Plus will set you back $159.99 and is made available from Amazon. Best Buy was marketing the mobile, as well, but looks like it’s sold out as of publication. Also of note is that BLU states that starting on April 29, the R1 Plus will be offered with a $50 instant markdown for 24 hours, bringing its selling price down to $109.99.
BLU’s R1 Plus delivers a few very good improvements on top of the R1 HD, and because of its 4000mAh battery, it will get some great life cycle of battery. The void of Wi-Fi Calling and having Android 6.0 pre-loaded instead of Android 7.0 are both negatives, having said that, at least an upgrade to Nougat is in BLU’s plans.
